What is a conversion?

A conversion happens when a visitor goes from merely browsing to doing something you want them to do — you “convert” them.

Calling, emailing or buying are all “conversions”. However, conversions come in many forms. For instance, you might know a prospect will be more likely to buy when they’ve read a certain page of your website. In that case, it’s a conversion if you get a visitor to that page and they spend long enough on the page to read it.

Conversion rate optimisation (CRO) is the science and art of getting as many visitors as possible do the things you want them to do — to “convert”. CRO is not static.
